ENCLOSURE CARE GUIDE

Enclosure Care
Acrylic Enclosures:
  • Wash enclosure with mild soap and room temperature water.
  • Allow enclosure to dry with the door off for 24 hours.
  • Use a soft microfiber cloth to spot clean as needed.
  • Acrylic is prone to warping in higher temperatures.
Decorated Enclosures:
While we do everything in our power to create safe, “earthquake proof” enclosures, all materials have the potential to breakdown over time and all environments have potential to grow mold.
  • Misting the bare sides and avoiding directly misting the décor will help prevent mold and deterioration.
  • Using distilled water will help prevent mineral buildup.
  • Check frequently for loose or moving parts, mold etc.
  • Remove items if needed.
  • If using adhesive to re-attach, use hot glue and give adequate time to dry before putting spider in. Super Glue and other adhesives have fumes and require cure time.
  • We use Galapagos reptile safe moss. This moss is dyed with safe PLANT BASED dyes and will bleed if it gets wet.
Use non-abrasive microfiber to clean the acrylic.
  •  Acrylic is prone to scratching and cloudiness over time. You may notice scratches and marks at the time of purchase that occur during normal handling.
  •  Do not use acetone or other chemicals that may damage the acrylic as well as harm your spider.
  • We recommend using only water when needed.
  • When cleaning, spot clean only. Do not remove your spiders hammocks unless absolutely necessary.
Keep your enclosure out of direct sunlight.
  • Placing your enclosure in direct sunlight can create an oven-like atmosphere and could overheat and potentially kill your spider as well as damage the acrylic.
  • Do not use heat lamps.  LED lights that do not produce heat are acceptable.
REMOVE FEEDER INSECTS IF NOT CONSUMED
Some insects such as crickets can chew through the mesh vents and can also harm your spider.
Keep your enclosure and spider away from chemicals, pesticides and essential oils.
If you spray for bugs, use flea and tick medications for your pets or even use essential oils, DO NOT USE around your spider and enclosure. WASH HANDS THOROUGHLY before handling your spiders if you have been in contact with any of those items.

Orion's House of Jumpers

We are a family of 7 from Waynesboro, PA. I (Brent) work full time with 3D scanning and Samantha works full time as a medical assistant. We have 5 children! Ages 16, 15, 12, 9 and 3 years old. You probably have met one or 2 of them at an expo.

Our jumping spider adventure began with one singular pet spider. Soon enough that morphed into MANY more. And when you have 400 baby jumping spiders... what else are you going to do? Our first expo was in March 2023 in Gettysburg, PA. It was an amazing experience to see so many people fall in love with our spiders and enclosures. Our favorite part of this journey has been watching people transform their negative thoughts about spiders into positive ones, and doing it as a family! And of course being able to use our creativity to create beautiful spider homes!

We take pride in our small business and are always here to help and teach along the way. We look forward to working with all of you!
